Kindergarten
In Kindergarten we spend 3 hours in five kindergarten classrooms and helped to support their science curriculum where they were learning about push and pull. Our high school students were the mentors and teachers of the lessons in these classrooms. Here are some of the activities that we planned and our BLHS BIT students developed.

Second Grade
Our BLHS BIT students spent an hour with a second grade class learning how to build a lego car. The car had to be built to roll down a track and then protect the egg so that it did not break. Great engineering lesson on sketching out the car, thinking about how to protect the egg and then testing their creation. This was done in conjunction with the classroom teacher and helped students to apply their learning around engineering as a part of the Science and Engineering curriculum in the classroom. Our BLHS BIT High School mentors are an integral part of mentoring our students to think outside the box to create their lego racers. The smiles on their faces and their cars roll down the ramp, and the problem solving as they think critically on what to fix in order to make sure the egg is safe as it rolls down the ramp. Our BLHS BIT mentors are just as excited to see the successes as the students are.
